GUESS was founded in 1981 by brothers Armand, Georges, Maurice and Paul Marciano, who left the south of France in pursuit of the American dream. While still in France, the brothers started out by producing ties to sell in Paris and make some extra money. Later on they ventured into making blouses for women, then dresses and finally the famous washed jeans, still in 1976, that would project the brand to American success.
